Governor greets people on the occasions of Eid-ul-Fitr and Rath-Yatra

AGARTALA, July 17 (TIWN): On the auspicious occasions of Eid-ul-Fitr and Rath Yatra, Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy has extended his warm greetings to the people of the state.

In his message to the people of the state, Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy has extended good wishes and warm greetings to all the citizens of the state.

Particularly to the Muslim brothers and sisters, he said that on the auspicious occasion of the Eid-ul-Fitr, the devotees gathered to offer payers to Allah asking prosperous life, happiness, success in all the way.

He further expressed his desire to people that this festival will enrich the lives with tradition of giving and sharing with a spirit of brotherhood. He also wished that may this festival reinforce the commitment of the citizens of the state towards mutual harmony.

The religious day is a single day during which Muslims are not permitted to fast. This is a day when Muslims around the world show a common goal of unity.

Ramzan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is observed as a fasting period by Muslims who abstain from food and water from sunrise to sunset and it culminates in Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.

During Ramzan, Muslims offer special prayers called Taraweeh at the end of their usual five-time prayers.

Further, Governor Tathagata Roy also greeted the people on the occasion of Rathyatra of Lord Jagannath and prayed for peace. In his message he expressed that on this occasion Lord Jagathan may bless peace, prosperity and happiness in the state. Besides, he also mentioned about the Kubh Fair celebration at the Nasik, Maharashtra.

He also wished that may these festivals are celebrated with happiness and blessing maintaining peace and harmony in the state.  

The chariot festival 'Rath Yatra' is celebrated on the second day of Shukla Paksha in the month of Ashadh. On this occasion, Lord Jagannath, his brother Lord Baldev along with their sister Subhadra are placed in the chariots and a procession is taken out in the city.
