AGARTALA, July 16 (TIWN): Like all other cases, it seems Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) scam will also be hush-up. It is evident from the situation where after about a year, police have arrested former Assistant Director cum Branch officer of RMSA Ambalika Dutta two days ago.

But immediately after her arrest she is trying to escape the custody and took a tactics of illness.  She has been undergoing treatment at IGM hospital. However, she is under the strict vigilance of Police. Even after three days have passed doctors could not diagnose her illness.

When the police arrested her on Tuesday evening and was supposed to be producing her before the court, she reportedly pretended to be ill and police took her to the hospital.

As per the rules, if any criminal falls ill immediately after the arrest of police, a medical team is to be constituted to conduct a medical checkup of the arrested accused but so far no medical team of doctors are constituted and no diagnose is conducted and the accused Ambalika Dutta is delaying the process of custody in the name of illness.

An order to Tripura schools to use their funds to buy books written by Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and former bureaucrat Sanjoy Kumar Panda is a scandal.

Additional Mission Director of RMSA had filed an FIR against Treasurer Arnab Chakraborty for misappropriation and embezzlement of department’s fund at West Agartala police station on September 05, 2014. Later, police had arrested the multi-crore scam star Arnab from Kolkata on September 14. Thereafter, the police took him to the custody as per Court’s order.

Arnab is accused of looting Rs 5 crore of RMSA money through forging signatures of his bosses in 56 cheque leaflets. According to police, Arnab had transferred about Rs 4.5 lakh from his account to that of a woman in a bank in Dalhousie and made a credit card payment of Rs 4 lakh. Police raided the woman's house in the Sobha Bazar area at kolkata, tracing these clues, and came to know that Arnab had also paid Rs 52,000 to a hotel here and Rs 3.5 lakh to a jewelry shop.

Tripura Police with the help of Baguiati Police laid a trap for Arnab near his friend's house at Baguiati.

However, after passage of a year, Ambalika has been arrested, which could have been done earlier. However, this delay shows the poor investigation by Police force. Police should not work in anyone’s favour, but should act independently to curb the scandal.

It is alleged that her arrest was delayed by a year to give her a chance to save her skin.
