AGARTALA, July 16 (TIWN): Despite of several initiatives taken by various departments of the state to improve its education system and health sector; the schools and hospitals are running in deplorable condition hampering the basic rights of public.

Recently, in a meet the representatives of the various existing committee which includes Education, Health and Culture focused to improve the education system of Sabroom sub-division. During the meet, the school visitors were asked to make regular visits at the schools to stay updated about the condition.

During the meet, to construct a J.B. School at the ADC village Pushparam Para they have decided to find an area as soon as possible. Further the committee has decided to renovate the Horina J.B. School which has been running pathetic as heavy storms have damaged the infrastructure of the school. Besides, they have decided to repair the pipe lines of drinking water in various schools.

Apart from this, few play grounds of schools of the area will be renovated so that the students can get the facility to play and in this regard the officers of the sports departments will be informed soon.

Concern about the spread of Malaria disease, the health department was asked to conduct awareness camps as a part of precaution against malaria.

Though, the State Education department had drawn up several plans and policies to make the state 100 percent literate, but they are failing to achieve their targets and goals due to lack of attention to the education sector.

The initiative taken by the departments only remains in the papers, as there are various complaints of the in-charge of the schools from various interior parts of the state. Some says that the schools lack benches and drinking water facilities and some complaints that the schools are running with wrecked roof and damaged infrastructure.

It is worthy to mention that despite the fact that the departments are conducting meet to discuss on   various issues of education and health, till day there are schools in the interior parts of the state which lacks keen eyes. As a result the students are deprived from their basic rights of education.

Though the government is taking initiatives and spending a large amount of budget in providing free education to the poor and needy but what the students are getting is of no use.
