AGARTALA, July 16 (TIWN): Agitated janitors of IGM hospital staged protest in front of the hospital on Thursday morning as they have not received their salary for past 5 months.
Following the protest they did not do the cleaning of the hospital and staged a protest demanding to provide their salary within next few days or else they will further stage massive protest.
It is to be mentioned here that the salary of last 5 month is still pending which created resentment among the workers of IGM hospital. Altogether more than 50 workers, who are working at the IGM hospital as cleaning staffs have been deprived of their salary, said sources.
The janitors are working under a private sanitation company and are employed at IGM hospital as cleaning staffs. However, 5 months have passed but so far they din’t receive any salary.
Among the staffs, the women are suppose to be paid Rs 3000 and man to be paid Rs 4000 per month, but so far for past 5 months they did not receive any salary.
The hospital was not cleaned on Thursday morning resulting dirt and garbage’s left openly at the entrance of the hospital. The staffs demanded that until they will not get their salary they will not clean the hospital, Said a staff Kanu Sharma.
For many of the cleaning staffs, working in the IGM Hospital, this mere 4000 Rs. is the only source of earning bread for their family, said another staff Java sil.
They have reported the issue to the concerned authority many times but so far no action is taken.
Further after one hour of their protest the contractor of Private Sanitation Company P.K. Chowdhury rushed to the spot. Getting assurance from the contractor to receive their pending their salary within next few days, they withdrew their protest.
