BELONIA, July14 (TIWN): In a bizarre incident, an imprisoned man was found dead inside the jail on Tuesday morning at Belonia jail who was accused of using fake PRTC and caste certificate. The deceased is identified as Upendra Debnath (42) resident of Belonia Rajnagar area. The accused was sent to 14 days of jail custody by Belonia court on July 5, after allegation rose against him for using fake PRTC and Caste Certificate for issuing some documents. Reportedly, after proper medical examination the accused was sent to jail custody with declaration of 100 per cent medical fitness from the doctor. However, jailer Dhananjoy Bhattacharjee said that the deceased was perfectly fine in the morning. After consuming his morning meal in the jail consisting of rice and daal he went to his jail cell and within a few minutes of time all of a sudden he was found dead in his jail cell. Even the other jail inmates imprisoned in the adjacent jail cell are not aware how he died all of a sudden without any medical problem. Nothing can be said until we receive the postmortem report, added jailer. Further, the body of the deceased is sent for postmortem to Belonia hospital and the post mortem will be carried out in presence of Deputy Collector Magistrate (DCM) Dhirendra Koloi. And later the body of the deceased will be handed over to the family members, said Jailer Bhattacharjee.

It is to be mentioned here that the arrested accused was produced before Belonia court on July 5, asking for remand, when he was found guilty for using fake PRTC and Caste Certificate for issuing some documents, confirmed police.

The accused was arrested on July 4 from his residential area at Rajnagar, under Puran Rajbari Police Station.

According to DCM Dhirendra Koloi, the accused was arrested following an investigation after a complaint was registered against him for submitting fake PRTC and Caste Certificate for issuing some documents.

Police confirmed that the arrest was conducted following a complaint registered. However, as per the complaint, when the certificates were preceded for verification, the officials found them as fake. Enhancing the fraud while verifying the certificates, the official found also the fake signature of SDM.

Smelling something fishy, the concern authority further investigated and found that till date no certificate has been issued on the name of the accused.

After the concern authority confirmed about the situation, DCM registered a complaint. The police on July 5 produced the accused before the court asking for remand.

However, resentment brewed up among the family members of the deceased following the sudden death of Upendra in the jail. The family members are further demanding to know the reason behind his death.
