BJP Unakoti District committee meets SDM to place 12 charters of demands
TIWN

KAILASHAHAR, July 13 (TIWN): Speaking against the corruption and molestation of women, BJP Unakoti District committee on Sunday placed 12 charters of demands to SDM Ajit Shukla Das in an attempt to take strong action in tackling the rising illicit act.

The committee placed the deputation with an aim to stop corruption in the area and if proper initiatives were not taken soon, the committee declared to go for mass protest, said District Sabadhipati Ranjan Sinha.

In a Press Conference District Sabadhipati Ranjan Sinha said that according to the law, food security bill guarantees 5 kg of rice per person to all beneficiaries at a uniform price of Rs 3/kg through ration card though the law has been not yet implemented in the state but the process is going on.

They said that where the law has been made for the poor population of the state, most of the CPI-M members of the state are receiving the benefits to register their name in the list of beneficiaries. In the law it has been mentioned that the people who have LED TV in their homes, vehicles, 2 acres of land or earn more than Rs. 1, 200, those do not come under the benefits of the law, said Sinha.

The committee complains that though names of the beneficiaries were inked down but there are people who do not fall under the mentioned categories but still their names were mentioned in the list of beneficiaries which is illegal.

They also complained that there are frequent cases of molestation and rape but police plays a silent role. It is worthy to mention that in some cases the police arrest the accused but most of the cases remain only in written format.

They further demanded to take strict action against the Electricity office of Kailashahar as there are several complains that the office distribute fake bills frequently to the consumers, whereas around Rs. 80 Lakhs of bills remained pending on 15 different departments which includes Health department, Education department, Forest Department and many others but the electricity office is not taking any initiatives to collect the bill.

The committee demanded to take strict action against all the mentioned illicit act or else they will be bound to go for mass protest.
