AGARTALA, July 12 (TIWN): In another incident of ATM loot, unidentified miscreants struck at an ATM of UCO Bank, near the lower court at Fire Brigade Choumuhani and damaged the ATM Machine on Saturday Mid-night.

Though the money is safe but the ATM machine damaged with several scratches over it, confirmed the locals.

The miscreants tried to break the guardless ATM of UCO bank on Saturday mid-night but they failed to break the ATM, left the machine damaged and managed to flee from that area.

This kind of incident has become rampant over the state; every after few days one after another ATM machine of the city was being triggered by the miscreants.

However, after so many incidents have been triggered in the state, Tripura police have failed to play a specific role to bring the illicit activities of the miscreants under control.

Despite increasing number of robbery incidents at ATMs, the bank authorities also failed to ensure adequate security at ATM booths and proper facility of CCTV cameras, claimed the locals.

As per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guideline, it is a mandatory for all banks to provide a security guard, CCTV camera and trigger alarms at all ATMs. However, most of the ATMs don’t have a security guard and CCTV cameras.

Most of the time it has been noted that the cameras which has been installed in the ATM booths remains non-functional or damaged, said the locals.

So far many incidents of ATM robbery and damage have been registered in most of the Police Stations but police are playing a silent role.

Due to the negligence of the police in the state, though many cases of ATM loots have been registered including the cases of Bhati Abhoynagar and Circuit house and in various parts of the state, till day police did not take any necessary initiative to arrest the miscreants and also failed to ensure safe ATM booths.

It is worthy to mention here that so far the city police and the concerned bank authorities had failed to bring the emerging situation under control and as a result the bank and the ATM customers are getting deprived at large.

The bank authorities had also failed to ensure the security to most of the ATM machines in and around the city and other parts of the state and taking the advantages, the miscreants seem to have owned a new policy to loot the ATM machines.
