AGARTALA, July 12 (TIWN): An Equivalency Programme has been defined by National Literacy Mission, as an alternate educational programmed equivalent to the existing formal, general or vocational education by State Equivalency Exam Board.
Equivalency Programme under the Continuing Education Programme of the SLMA Tripura was organized through out the state. The programme had been carried out under the supervision of the local Panchayat Saksharatha Samithies. The classes were co-ordinated by the Preraks with the help of the Ward Saksharatha Samithies.
Latest literacy rate of Tripura as on 08.09.2014 was 96.82 percent.
Total identified Neo –Literates (15 to 50 years age group)- 70,200 Total Literacy Centres opened – 4,215. Total Literacy Workers engaged – 4,633. Learners enrolled– 70,200. Final Evaluation to be conducted (Standard-III Level)-on this month. Total Fund released by the State Government – Rs. 250.00 lacs
The Tripura success story is attributed to the involvement of local government bodies, including gram panchayats, NGOs and local clubs under the close supervision of the State Literacy Mission Authority (SLMA) headed by the chief minister.
