Tata trusts eyes on quality education in Northeast Tripura, imparts training to teachers

AGARTALA, July 12 (TIWN): To ensure imparting of education to the children, which is satisfactorily good in quality and life relevant, the TATA Trusts had inked a pact with the Tripura Left front Government recently. The trusts had already kicked off its survey work since 2 years back here in the state setting up its office, said top official.

According to the official source, the Tata Trusts had deployed its executives of Human Resource department at several schools in the rural Tripura and had already took a stock of the situation of current education status.

For the last two years the trusts has been working here to explore the possibilities of imparting high-tech education towards developing the status of the rural students, the source added.

The source on Saturday clarified that the Tata Trusts had come here not to launch any project or neither to invest hefty amount rather the trusts had started working here in northeast Tripura as part of their social work towards sustainable livelihood.

During the two hectic years Tata Trusts had already filtered some teachers with high-tech training imparting training from abroad, official source said.

The executives of the Trusts had visited every blocks and districts and took a stock of the situation taking up certain issues which would assist them working here for the rural people of this state.

In an effort at achieving excellence in school education and ending disparity among teaching staff, Tata Trusts eyes forward to impart quality of education at the elementary level which might add another feather to the development of the Left front government.

A number of activities, measures and programmes have been undertaken in the state with a view to augmenting a strong favourable environment in the state to achieve a desirable position to improve quality of education.  

The official source said that the Trusts on its ground work had already met the officials of Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) and also took a stock of the situation of the pass percentage in the rural Tripura compared to the city areas of the state.

Reluctance of a section of teachers to serve on hills and in villages has largely affected the education system. The numbers of dropouts in rural areas, mainly on the hills, are alarming and many schools are functioning with just a couple of teachers.

While a large number of teachers continue with their jobs in urban areas and earn a lot through private tuitions, their counterparts are languishing in rural pockets for years together. But just after the private practises were banned here, the Tata Trusts jumped to impart quality education and train the teachers with high-tech familiarity towards the students.

The drive by the Trusts is also expected to cater the need for regular interaction between teachers and guardians so that appropriate means can be applied to make the schools centres of attraction.

However, Ratan Tata, chairman of Tata Trusts after inking the pact with the state government had said, “I feel that Tripura is a great state with an immense potential. It’s a pleasure to be here and have the chance to experience the adrenaline of feeling that maybe you can make a difference.”

Eminent industrialist Ratan Tata has pledged support to community development work in Tripura as Tata Trusts joined hands with the state government.
