Rape accused sent to 3-day Judicial Custody

UDAIPUR, July 12 (TIWN): In a bizarre incident, a 38-year old sweeper of Tulamura Primary Health Centre was arrested by Kakrabon Police on Saturday after he had raped a 23-year old woman at the hospital.

The accused was identified as Uttam Sen Choudhury, who is professionally a sweeper.

Officer in-Charge of Kakrabon Police Station Jatindra Das informed that a team of police at around 11 am arrested the accused from the hospital and presented him infront of the Judicial Magistrate Court.

The Judicial Magistrate Court on Saturday pronounced 3 days of Judicial Custody that is till July 13. He will be again placed in front of the court on Monday, confirmed OC Jatindra Das.

He added that the court has asked the police to submit the case dairy.

Detailing about the incident happened on Friday mid-night; the survivor said that she was sleeping with her daughter who was admitted at the hospital for past four days due to serious illness.

On Friday mid-night the sweeper switched off the lights of the ward and getting a chance the accused thronged over her and pressed her mouth so that she cannot shout, said the victim.

The victim said, when she managed to scream out, the patient and the patient parties in the ward hurriedly switched on the light and grabbed the accused.

Further she said that the accused somehow managed to flee from the hospital.

However, on Saturday at around 9 am the family members of the victim registered a FIR against the accused sweeper at Tulamura outpost. Later the complaint has been shifted to Kakrabon Police Station.

Following the complaint a team of police visited the hospital and arrested the accused.
