SABROOM, July 11 (TIWN): Deplorable condition of National Highway-44 between Santirbazar and Harina Sabroom South Tripura has been worsened due to heavy seasonal landslides, due to which more than 500 vehicles were trapped in Santirbazar and Sabroom Harina area.
While the death of a girl child has been reported at Dimatali area is due to landslide, since after passing of two consecutive days, Belonia Sub Divisional Administration has not taken any step lessen the chances of death incidents. The mentioned road has turned from its original shape into a muddy road and the commuters have no option but to travel through this long stretch of “jumpy bumpy” road full of potholes and boulders, risking their own lives.
Meanwhile, incessant rains across the state since few days have thrown life out of gear. Many major streets in Agartala , Udaipur,Santirbazar,Sabroom have gone under water and a number of roads, lanes and houses are waterlogged. Several electricity posts were uprooted while many streets blocked after trees fall upon them.
North Tripura Dist. is following the same condition, as the entire Dharmanagar town plunged into complete dark after transmission line witnessed huge loss due to the storm. Kanchanpur town also witnessed a trail of destruction after the gusty downpour hit the subdivision. Many trees were uprooted while electricity transmission system witnessed extensive damage due to the heavy downpour.
