 Agartala gets 5th CNG station, to go green soon

AGARTALA, July 10 (TIWN): Aiming to go green and keep Tripura pollution free, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Friday urged the locals to use CNG vehicles as much as possible, in an inaugural programme of the 5th CNG station, an online mother station of TNGCL at Briddhanagar, Khayerpur.

He said that the state has around 10, 000 CNG vehicles which is remarkable but as the use of vehicles are increasing day by day the owners of the vehicles must opt for CNG. He also urged that the drivers who are running their vehicles on petrol must convert it in to CNG.

Admiring the step taken by the TNGCL, CM said that the station would encourage vehicles to switch to CNG, which is a cheaper and greener option. He also said that it would help to control the rising pollution due to vehicular emission.

The station has recently been augmented with one more Compressor of M/s KPCL make of 1200 SCMH Capacity. Besides, as a part of improvement one more Storage Cascade of 4500 WL capacity has been installed, said an official of TNGCL.

The station has the capacity of 1200 SCMH with 3 car dispensers, 1 bus dispenser, one LCV filling facility, 1 storage cascade of 4500 WL and one odorising unit, said TNGCL official.

Enhancing about the future plan of the TNGCL, an official said that on the availability of the land, it is expected to establish an online mother station at Chandrapur area. Further there are plans to establish two more Daughter Booster Stations at Khowai and in others area of Teliamura.

In future, there is a plan to establish one online mother station at Udaipur and two more Daughter Booster Stations at Santir Bazaar and Belonia, said an official.

TNGCL currently covers more than 70 per-cent of Agartala City covering both North and South side of Howrah River. Already the “green fuel” is planned to be supplied across the city to reduce and control the rising pollution due to vehicular emission and to establish natural gas as an eco-friendly and a safe alternative fuel.

There are four more CNG stations, one mother station at AD Nagar, one Daughter Booster Station at Abhoynagar, one mother station at TRTC Complex, Krishnagar and a Daughter Booster Station at Udaipur existing in the state.

TNGCL commenced supply of natural gas to Agartala in the way back June, 1990, initially to domestic customers. The GAIL took over TNGCL’s management position in the year 2005. The TNGCL currently supplies PNG close to 18506 domestic, 294 commercial and 47 industrial consumers in and around the city Agartala. TNGCL has taken up expansion plan to cover rest of Agartala under PNG connectivity in upcoming years, confirmed an official of TNGCL.
