AGARTALA, July 10 (TIWN): With the initiatives of the West and Sepahijala District Refugees Committee, a conference was organized on Friday at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan.
At the conference, the committee expressed grief over the ignorance of the state government towards their 14 charter of demands which includes rehabilitation for the locals, who were affected by the extremists attack from past 1999 to 2000.
They expressed that the victims are somehow managing food for their stomach but the Government is sitting idle without taking any essential step to give the victims shelter and food.
It is worthy to mention that though the state government has helped them in few things but according to the victims the government has skipped some essential demands to fulfill. The demands which the government fails are to arrange rehabilitation for the victimized families, to provide acceptance to the families, to provide Rs. 5 lakh as a part of compensation, said Committee Secretary Sajal Poddar.
Committee Secretary Sajal Poddar said that to enforce the demand they had performed hunger strike, Mass demonstration and many more things but till day the government kept on giving assurance but no sign of fulfilling the demand.
However, the committee has decided that this time they will not inform about the protest. The member said that they have understood how to bind the government to agree with their demands. This time the protest can be from anywhere and at any time. They will not think twice, before assembling at the Ministers gate.
During the conference, Committee Chairman Gopal Datta, Committee President Gopal Debnath and Committee Secretary Sajal Poddar were present.
