AGARTALA, July 9 (TIWN): On a visit to Jawaharlal Nehru Girls Housing Complex at Mohanpur, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Wednesday assured to provide all possible help required for the progress of the complex.
This complex is an orphanage for the girl child, established long back with an aim to serve orphan girl children of the block.
During the visit, Chief Minister had listened all the problems faced by the children residing in the complex and also discussed about other related problems like food facility and education. School Administration Committee head Tushar Bhattacharjee demanded to provide fund for the education of the students residing in the complex.
He mostly stressed on to provide funds for the students who are in 9th standard and will need proper guidance as by the next year they will be promoted to 10th standard and have to prepare for board exam.
Concerning the food problem, Bhattacharjee informed that few months back they had appealed for a card to Mohanpur Block SDM Dhiraj Debbarma through which the authority of the orphanage can get rice from the market at BPL rate. But till day no update has come yet.
Hearing the issue, CM had asked Bhattacharjee to forward him the concern application so that he can look into the issue and can take a necessary step for the benefit of the complex. CM also appreciated the effort and dedication of the complex authority.
Bhattacharjee further informed that the orphanage requires Rs. 25, 000 monthly including fooding and lodging but the authority was unable to manage the amount. They mostly rely on the fund which they collect from the locals.
Earlier there were many orphan girls but slowly the number has declined to 13, said Bhattacharjee.
