Madhya Pradesh lady journalist was harrased in Tripura

KANCHANPUR, July 9 (TIWN): Kanchanpur Press club protested against a recent event occurred with a lady photo journalist of Madhya Pradesh based in Kolkata namely Ms Jeniver Kissan, when she went to cover Reang refugee camp at Kanchanpur, North Tripura.

Branding her as ISI agent, SIB dept. harassed the photo journalist, also tortured as alleged by Kanchanpur Press Club.

The tragic and embarrassing incident which took place with this Madhya Pradesh’s lady photo journalist Miss Jeniver Kissan, who came to cover the present status of Reang refugee camp residing at Kanchanpur, North Tripura, is brewing anger among a section of people. The lady had been harassed in many ways by imposing several invalid claims upon her.

Journalist was stopped on the way to the refugee camp on Monday. Then she had been attacked by harassment and questioning. Despite she had all the necessary identity proof,  but SIB intelligence had harassed her for a long time.

Such an action was done only to protect the Reang community’s illegal activities as fake notes circulation business and business of drugs etc., said Press club.  Kanchanpur Press Club has also knocked the state govt. in this issue so that strict action would be taken against them.

It’s to be mentioned that the Reangs, who fled Mizoram, are in the wake of inter-community violence and thus they still face an uncertain future. . Once, the Indian government listed the Reang’s as the lone “primitive group” in Tripura living here from 17 years.
