AGARTALA, July 8 (TIWN): The residents of West Joynagar under AMC 11 no ward gheraud the house of MLA Ratan Das on Wednesday morning, following the deprivation of the residents under the scheme of proving housing complex to the residents of the area.

The residents of the area alleged that a government housing complex is constructed for the residents of the Indira colony, Rajani Colony, Bidya Sagar colony under West Joynagar but with the completion of the construction the authority informed the residents that they will not get any house in this complex.

The residents strongly criticized the decision of the authorities and staged an agitation and also gheraud MLA Ratan Das in his house.  The localities demanded their allotment in the housing complex and said that they will not allow one from different areas to reside in the newly constructed complex.

The localities said if require they will continue with their massive protest but they will not allow any outsider to occupy the plot under the housing complex.                                                                                   

As a part of their protest they also raised agitation in front of the 11 no ward office and later they also agitated in front AMC office.

The residents further alleged that, earlier they were assured from the authorities that the residents of the area will get a house in the complex but now the authorities are denying from their word.  

Instead of proving house to the residents of these areas, the authority has decided to allot houses to the locals of another area, said an agitated local of Indira colony.

However, getting alarm the Battala Outpost police along with the West police personnel reached the spot and tried to bring the situation under control.

Further getting assurance from the MLA Ratan Das, he said that he will look into the matter and take necessary steps; and the localities then withdrew their protest.
