AGARTALA, July 8 (TIWN): The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) has sanctioned a total fund of Rs. 126 crore for the proposed 10 projects here in North Eastern state Tripura, said the senior official. At the meantime arriving here on Tuesday the secretary for DoNER R.Vijaykumar is scheduled to visit several construction sites during his four days stay.A senior official of the state on Tuesday said that the Ministry has already sanctioned fund of Rs. 126 crore for several projects to be implemented here in Tripura. For the improvement of Bishalgarh (NH-44)-Taksapara-Sonamura Road (32 Km) the ministry has sanctioned Rs. 63.10 crore. Whereas for the proposed extension of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) network in and around the state capital Rs. 7.03 crore has been sanctioned.Besides, for the most stressed on river valley catchments erosion control project of Howrah River in Tripura, the DoNER ministry had sanctioned Rs. 5.99 crore. The senior official had also said that the second highest fund of Rs. 14.06 crore has been sanctioned by the ministry for water supply arrangement in rural areas of West Tripura, Khowai, Sepahijala Districts by sinking and development of Deep Tube Well (DTW) schemes including construction of pump houses, installation of pump set and laying distribution pipelines.Interestingly despite sanctioning huge fund by the ministry of DoNER or the Central Government a large section of people of the state are far from the reach of proper drinking water facilities. However, this had of course become a matter of concern for the state government here.

The total fund had been sanctioned for the Financial Year (FY) 2015-16. It is believed that following a call from the Tripura Government recently to improve the fund, the DoNER Ministry R. Vijaykumar had visited the state on Tuesday and is also scheduled to hold a meeting with Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on July 10.

R. Vijaykumar would stay here for four days and is expected to visit Agartala GB Pant Hospital, Amtali Ramkrishna Mission, Agartala-Akhaura rail project site, construction site of the Agartala flyover and others.
