PHC running with zero electricity facility, solar power generating system turned out of operation: authority silent

MOHANPUR, July 8 (TIWN): With the aim to provide electricity facility at Katlamara Primary Health Centre (PHC) under Mohanpur Sub-division, the state health department had provided an electricity generator 10 years back for better facility at the PHC, but with in a time span of 5 months the generator turned out of operation leaving the PHC entirely in darkness.

Without repairing the already installed electric generator, the health department took a big dive and introduced solar power generation system and launch solar power unit in the premises of the hospital.

The unit was set up after spending an amount of 7 lakh and within duration of 2 hours the solar unit turned out of order and since then no step is being taken for repairing the solar unit system.

With the installation of solar power equipment this PHC can save money and energy but also can carry on all the emergency services without any hurdles. They can use solar power in the day and switch on to conventional energy at night, but every tall claim vanished with the report of malfunctioning of the solar power system.

The unit was set up with the initiative of science and technology department but after the installment of the set up, no step was taken for its renovation, alleged localites.

This is a complete wastage of public fund, alleged a resident of the area.

Talking to TIWN correspondent MOIC Annanta Kumar Naotia said that the solar unit cannot be repaired until the parts are being brought from Guwahati.

Day after day the public fund is wasted blindly and no initiative is taken for repairing the solar unit.

To our further shock, in this age of “golden era” a PHC is being run without electricity, proving least amount of service to the people.

Health is the major indicator of development. The state where the health system is good it is taken in to consideration that the state is developed. But this is a fallacy so far as the scenario of rural Tripura is concerned.
