AGARTALA, July 4 (TIWN): In a bid to end up the embezzlements in the distribution of wages to the MGNREGA workers in the state, recently District Magistrate of West Dr. Milind Ramteke strictly instructed the Block Development Officers of 9 blocks to stop paying the Panchayats if they fail to generate a single working day by the month of June under the MGNREGA scheme.
According to the recent report it has been seen that in the West District of Tripura so far altogether only 1.3 working days have been generated. After going through the detailed information in the active job cards of the workers it has been found that Mandai Block has generated 4.3 days under MGNREGA, whereas, Mohonpur Block has noted 3 days, Lefunga Block had shown 0.8 working days and Belabari 0.7 days. Besides, Old Agartala Block had shown 1.2 working days, South Dukli Block has noted 0.7 days and South Jirania Block had 0.6 working days.
Interestingly, Bamutia and Hejamara Blocks have failed to show a single working day under MGNREGA scheme.
Now the question arises, as they failed to show a single working day then will the block would able to enjoy the benefits of the fund.
However, when the Gram Sebak plays an important role in generating employment under the MGNREGA scheme, the concern authority failed to show at least single a working day at the concern block.
To expedite the implementation of eFMS (electronic Fund Management System) which enable online transfer of wages directly to the beneficiaries' bank accounts.
Hence, the Manual disbursements of wages have resulted in complaints of alleged irregularities in the distribution of wages to workers.
In EFMS, the block development officers make online entries of the name of the workers and days of work on the muster roll and sign it electronically. It will reach the central server and then the master account of the local bank, from where the wages will be credited to the account of the labourers.
