Tripura Journalist Union placed deputation to CM

AGARTALA, July 3 (TIWN): Tripura Journalist Union placed a deputation with Tripura’s Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, with 16 charter of demands. During the meet CM discussed about various demands of the journalist union and assured them to make a solution to their problems.

A 8 members of delegations team who met the CM are: Pranab Sarkar, General Secretary, Sajjat Ali, president, Alok Ghosh, Vice president, 2 Asst. secretaries namely Ranjan Roy, Shyamal Deb and other members as Sutaranjan Krishna and Jawhar Roy.

Their demands include: “Implementation of Supreme Court Verdict” in a case relating to latest Wage Board recommendations in state of Tripura within three months; intervention of the state govt. to fecilate issuance of appointment letter to all working  journalists of the state; executive decision on ‘Housing Scheme’; Post-retiremnet pension, Press Accreditation.

They further demanded for regular workshops, land and fund for setting up press club in the sub-divisions.

The Cost free treatment of Journalists suffering from ailments was one of the high demands.

The last but not the least the Annual Awards on achieving excellence in different categories of media was also enlisted in that demand list.

CM told the journalist that he will surely think about their demands and bring an immediate solution of their problems.
