TJMKM placed a 10 points charter of demands to Governor Tathagata Roy

AGARTALA, July 1 (TIWN): Tripura Jute Mill Karmachari Mancha (TJMKM) on Wednesday placed a 10 points charter of demands to the Governor Tathagata Roy, demanding the equal amount of salary like the other Public Service Unions which are running under the state Government.

They further demanded to eradicate the current D.A. system of the employees of the Jute Mill and to include the new system which have been continuing in the other PSUs of the state and have been enjoyed by the employees over there.

Talking to TIWN, Tripura Jute Mill Karmachari Mancha President Khirod Mohan Sarkar stated that for the past 35 years, employees of the Mill have been facing pathetic condition as the retired employees  were being given only Rs. 2, 000 as pension. Expressing grief over the situation, He said that how can a family run with such a low amount.

He also expressed that among all the 33 PSUs, 32 PSUs get the salary and holidays under the state government programme, whereas the Jute Mill Industry which also falls within the 33 PSU has been running under the negligence of the concern authority.

The employees of the Jute Mill further demanded to renew the pension programme of the industry and to continue it like any other pension programme of the state Government employees. They also urged to terminate the EPF (Employees Provident Fund) programme which is continuing at present and to replace it with the GPF programme.

With an aim to eliminate corruption from the Jute Mill, the concern employees demanded to appoint an audit team and to make a proper investigation.

However, they also demanded to provide Rs. 10, 000 as gratuity amount for every employees of the Tripura Jute Mill after their retirement. Like the State Government holiday programmes, the employees of the Jute Mill demanded to sustain the same holiday programmes for them.

They further demanded to provide promotion to the employees through maintaining the qualification standard and the ST/ SC list. Besides, the employees also demanded to appoint an IAS ((Indian Administrative Services) officer in place of TCS officer and many others.
