The victim has been identified as Gori Debnath (21), resident of Dhajanagar, Udaipur who was married to Sanjay Debnath of Radhanagar, Belonia in 2013.

According to the sources, in the year 2013 Gouri had been married to Sanjay Debnath with lots of dowries. Gouri’s father Kajal Debnath being a home-guard employee, managed to please the groom’s party with Rs. 1 lakh, bike, gold-ornaments along with all necessary furniture. But after 1 week passage of their marriage the groom’s party started to harass Gouri for more dowries. Often she was beaten up by them, but the matter went worst when on June 27 night her husband Sanjay Debnath along with her father-in-law Nirmal Debnath and brother in law namely Pranab Debnath tortured her so brutally that she became seriously injured.

Not only this, Gauri has a 7 months baby and due to the continuous torture upon her she remained ill maximum times. Knowing this Sanjay Debnath booted her on her belly many times, as a result of which she has been undergoing continuous bleeding.

Being informed by Gouri, her Father Kajal Debnath called the R.K. Pur Women Police Station, Udaipur immediately. Then through R.K.Pur Women Police, the police of P.R.Bari P.S. at Belonia was informed and then the police of Belonia rush to the spot and sent Gouri to hospital.  But her condition was so serious that she immediately referred to the Gomati dist. Hospital, at Udaipur.

As per the record, on last night Gouri had been asked to arrange Rs.10,000/- from her father. But she declined. As a result Sanjay Debnath along with his family members attacked on her and took their reprisal upon her in this way.
