TELIAMURA, June 25 (TIWN): Deprived of the Government made market stalls, the wholesale agricultural vendors under the initiative of the BJP state committee member Bidyut Ghosh thronged the streets and staged road blockade disrupting the traffic movement over National Highway at Telimura Ompi chowmuhani on Thursday morning.

The road blockade continued for 2 hours in the morning from Teliamura Ompi Chowmuhani area to Netaji stand.

However, the vendors demanded to allow them to sit in the Agricultural Market for running their business smoothly.

It is to be mentioned here that despite of building an Agricultural Market for the agricultural vendors of Teliamura, which is just opposite to Teliamura’s CPI-M Party office, the vendors are forced to manage a corner in other part of the area to carry on their business.

Reportedly, Agricultural Minister Aghore Debbarma had inaugurated the Market on 26 May 2015 for the benefit of the whole sale vendors of Teliamura. The stalls were also been divided among the vendors, but till today none of the vendors got the opportunity to sit and carry on their business.

Being forced of the situation they even sit at Teliamura Myganga Shukanta market to carry out their business. Vendors, who play a vital role in the society in providing vegetables, bound to manage a corner to persist their business.

“We thought this building would help us to manage a place, where we can sit and continue our business. But the minor vendors unlawfully take hold of the stalls and left them without any shed”, said a vendor.

During the rainy season they have to sit in the rain to continue their business as it is the only means of earning for them and to fill the stomach of the family.

“We are forced to carry on our business in the rain as we do not have any other option to go or any other arrangement for our benefit. It will be very much helpful if the authority manage to provide space in the newly built marker”, said another vendor and failing to get any support from the concerned authority they have staged a road blockade.

However, the situation was brought under   control when SDM rushed to the spot and gave assurance that he will look into the matter.
