UDAIPUR, June 25 (TIWN): Strained with poverty a mother of six children forcefully compelled her 12-years old daughter to work as a maidservant in a house near Housing Board area, Udaipur, after being tortured for one and half year by the owner of the house.
The incident came in to limelight when, Co-ordinator of a Child Line NGO Shudeep Ghosh along with his team including Labour inspector Swapan Das, District Social Welfare Department Amalendu Bhowmik, Police of Radhakishorepur Police Station rescued the 12-year old girl, Parbati Munda from the house and sent her for medical treatment at Tripura Sundari Hospital on Thursday. During the medical treatment it has been proved that the girl was undergoing brutal torture by the owner of the house where she has been working for one and half years.
The doctors stated that there were lots of scars in her body including injuries and many wounded areas which has been identified during the medical check-up.
After the treatment, as per the instruction of District Social Welfare Department Amalendu Bhowmik, a case has been registered at Radhakishorepur Police Station against the owner of the house where the girl was working as a maidservant.
Narrating the incident, the 12-year old girl expressed that her mother (Baishakhi Munda), has been working as a labour in the Ramkrishna Bricks Industry for prolonged 15 to 20 years. Further, it has been mentioned that the accused Rajesh Saha is the son-in-law of Shadhan Chandra Dhar, who is the owner of Ramkrishna Bricks Industry.
Baishakhi Munda, the mother of the victim Parbati Munda has been blessed with six children but as she was not able manage to feed the stomach of the children by her single hand’s earning. Therefore, she made all her children to work in different areas with a hope that at least the family could sleep in full stomach.
But her innocent hope turned in to nightmare after she came to know about the pitiable condition of her 12-year old daughter. She has been the only support for her six children as her husband passed away long back leaving his family alone.
Agitated locals expressed resentment and said that the owner Rajesh Saha has been torturing the girl for prolonged days. They also claimed for severe punishment for committing such kind of crimes by torturing an innocent girls and taking the advantage of the pitiable situation of the poor family which is against child labour act.
