BELONIA, June 24 (TIWN): Media professional who are in-charge of connecting the government with the common mass is now being allegedly threatened by the goons of the left-ruled government of the state. As the media person being an essential part of the fourth democracy brings forward the corrupt face of the government they are being every now and then threatened and harassed by the miscreants of the local government.

Similar case is reported from the Belonia district where a miscreants has openly threatened a journalist of a local Bengali daily and claimed in front of everyone that he will kill the journalist in the coming days and will also finish his family.

The Journalist is identified as Suman Nag; working for a Agartala based local Bengali daily.

The incident occurred on Tuesday night when Journalist Suman nag was speaking to a shopkeeper at Belonia road no-1 area and all of a sudden the miscreant Nandan Deb came to the spot and started harassing the journalist for publishing news in the local Bengali daily against the corruption gripped ruling government.

With heated exchange of word between the two, the miscreants also tried to injure the journalist by physically assaulting the journalist in the night in front of the shop at around 9.

It is to be mentioned here that the journalist had earlier written news against the Belonia Divisional secretary of CPM Tapash datta in the Bengali daily a few days back and in regard of that the miscreants has attacked the journalist and tried to injure him.

Although Journalist Suman Nag has denied that he has not filled any news in the newspaper.

However, the miscreant is identified as a characterless man who has also threatened Suman Nag that he will kill him within next 15 days.

The local people and some other working journalist of the area have rescued him from the hand of the goon.

The miscreant is also accused of several other crimes related to smuggling and trespassing of goods to the neighboring countries.

The Journalist has lodged complaint with the Belonia Police station but so far no action is taken. The entire working journalist team under Belonia district has decided to stage a massive protest in the coming days if police doesn’t take any action.

It is seen that Media person are openly attacked by the local goons of the party every now and then for publishing any kind of corrupt issue of the government and police is also playing a silent role in  curbing the attack against the journalist.
