Digital hearing aid distributed among 100 handicapped people at Kailasahar

KAILASAHAR, June 24 (TIWN): National Institute for Hearing Handicapped with the initiative of District Disability Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC) has distributed hundred Digital hearing aids among the handicapped people at kailasahar office on Tuesday.

It is for the first time that such a mega camp has organized at kailasahar under Unakoti District to distribute such an aid to the handicapped people.

Speaking at the program, Ranjit Bhattacharjee, Rehabilitation Officer for Mumbai based NIHH said that the entire digital hearing aid machine distributed among the handicapped people cost around 15,000 rupees and this initiative is taken to help the people for their establishment in the society. The people with hearing disturbances in both the ears were given two hearing machine for their help and support.

He further said that the institution will also adopt the measures for the children below 6 years of age with hearing disturbances since birth and will spent up to an amount of 6 lakhs for carrying out then operation and other helping aid required.

National Institute for Hearing Handicapped Mumbai was established in 1983. It is an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, New Delhi. These are centers aimed at meeting the local and regional needs in terms of manpower development and services. The aim of NIHH programs is to provide total rehabilitation to persons with sensory-hearing and vision, physical and mental disabilities, said Ranjit Bhattacharjee, Rehabilitation Officer for Mumbai based NIHH.

However, DDRC Nodal Officer Paresh Pal Chowdhury, Unakoti District magistrate Mrinal Kanti Nath, Unakoti Zilla Parishad Sobhadipoti Kalpona Debnath along with other dignitaries remained present in the program.
