AGARTALA, June 20 (TIWN): Acting on the direction of the Tripura High Court, District Magistrate west Millind Ramteke visited all together 22 shopping malls of Agartala city on Saturday morning.

DM west along with the officials from Agartala Municipal Corporation, police personnel, and fire service crew visited the shopping malls established in the Agartala city.

Talking to reporters, DM West Millind Ramteke stated that acting on the order of Tripura High Court, this visit was organized by him to take a look around the facilities available in the shopping malls of the Agartala city.

During the visit he inspected whether the malls have the proper place for parking or not, does it have the proper emergency exit, ramp for the disabled people, appropriate electricity and water supply, facility of lift and fire lift, proper installment of CCTV camera, the entry and exit doors, and whether resting place for the consumers available or not.

Further, it was also examined how much of land have the mall occupied, is it as per the documentation of the papers, how much storey is the mall; is it under safety prone measures, what is the height of the mall, what are departmental stores in the mall and does it have all the safety measures available in the mall for the consumer satisfaction.

The Tripura High Court has also instructed to scrutinize and make report on how many malls under construction is over 14 meter in height and if required the building for malls will be again re-constructed as per high court instruction. However, this issue of 14 meter height will not be applicable for the already constructed and the established mall.

Talking to District Magistrate Millind Ramteke further said that the visit was mainly aimed at looking for the availability of parking zone in the shopping malls along with the facility of lift and ramp for the consumers in the malls. He further stated that the facility of parking zone is mostly important as improper parking of vehicles including motor-bikes, car, in the no parking zone on the roadside causes inconvenience to smooth traffic movement, and more seriously to pedestrians.

Widened portions of the roads get fully occupied mostly in the evening for parking and create clogging on either side the road due to irregular parking of vehicles, said Ramteke.

However, DM Millind Ramteke further said that the court has also instructed to submit an inspection report to the court by July 1st.
