KAILASAHAR, June 20 (TIWN): Poor quality material is used in construction of Kailasahar Multicultural complex hall of 960 seats, alleged Kailasahar Municipal council Vice-chairman Kanti Lal Deb after a boundary wall of the building collapsed on Friday morning.
An amount of Rs.19 crores was sanctioned for the construction of the building but the amount rose to 30 crores with the implementation of various modern accommodations including art gallery, cafeteria, digital sound system and others.
However, NBCC was given the contract for the construction and further NBCC gave the sub-contract to a Kolkata based construction company BGB under the initiative of Engineer Ayan Ghosh.
The owner used extremely poor quality of iron rods and cement and sand and there was a series of irregularities in the construction.
In a visit by the Media team organized by the ICA department on Friday morning in presence of Kailasahar Municipal council Vice-chairman Kanti Lal Deb, the boundary wall of the complex collapsed resulting chaos among the people in the area. While constructing the building poor quality of bricks and concretes were used as a result the roads are now collapsing.
Further, Kailasahar municipal council Vice chairman criticized the use of the low graded material in the construction work of Kailasahar Multicultural complex hall and assured that he will look into matter and if required the building will be reconstructed with furnished materials.
