Flyover construction work soon after by-election: ‘Pilot’ meeting held at DM office

AGARTALA, June 17 (TIWN): Prior to the construction work of the first ever flyover here in, 117 years old largest city of the Indian state of Tripura and also the second largest city in North-east India, Tripura capital Agartala, a ‘pilot’ meeting was held on Wednesday at Agartala DM (West) office with SDM (Sadar) Manik Lal Das along with Traffic SP Smriti Ranjan Das; and the construction agency delegates remained present.The meeting was held taking up the issue of containing traffic congestions, road clearance and other certain issues needs to be look after during the construction work. Talking to TIWN in this regard DM (West) Milind Ramteke said, “This was the preliminary meeting held on Wednesday with an aim to take a stock of the situation of the construction work of the flyover here in Agartala.” Adding to that Ramteke said, “No final decision has been taken yet in this regard however. But very soon another meeting would be held where the administration would give its final consent for setting up better traffic system, needs to be undertaken once the construction work starts in the city.” The administration needs to undertake several issues relating to the traffic system, road clearance, power lines and others prior to the construction work or else the work would be hampered and the city would face heavy disturbances.

DM also added that another meeting would be held soon with the BSNL authority and the TNGCL officials. Earlier talking to TIWN on Sunday State PWD Engineer in Chief Sunil Bhowmik said that the blue print prior to the construction work has already been done with the entrusted agencies all set to kick off the construction work very soon. 

Bhowmik said, “The preliminary work of the construction had already been started since after the foundation stone was laid.

However, the entrusted agencies are all set now to kick off the construction work of the first ever flyover here in Agartala city after the by-election. 

” Adding to that he said, “The blue print and the design of the flyover has been made and the agencies were asked o bring all the construction equipments and tools.” The ground survey is completed and the piling would start very soon, he said.

"The project has gone to Hyderabad-based Nagarjuna Construction Company Limited through a national tender. Since they are already engaged in advanced construction work in Agartala like the NIT, we hope the work will be completed in time," Bhowmik said.

Chief Minister Manik Sarkar earlier this year laying the foundation stone pitched to complete the construction work of the first ever flyover in Tripura by 30 months. One of the leading construction company Nagarjun is entrusted to take up the construction of Rs. 250 crore sanctioned project work of building fly over which would first of its kind here in the state.

The flyover, which will start from Drop Gate (Fire Service office), would touch Fire Brigade Chowmuhani via Battala. A subway of the fly over will be created up to Melarmath. As per the layout of the project, the Banayan tree and the temple at Battala will be remained untouched by the fly over. The first ever 2-lane flyover in the capital city will lower the traffic jam by at least 40% to 45% and it will make a smooth fast track movement of the vehicles.
