AGARTALA, June 17 (TIWN): Seasoned politician Manik Sarkar who is the only leftist Chief Minister of the country, on Tuesday sought Prime Minister’s all out support to buildup infrastructure of Tripura. Tripura Chief Minister knows it better that it would be not right to stir up a hornet’s nest that might be danger for his govt. Keeping it in mind CM meet with PM and urged many things .His urge was not centric only for Tripura, but also for northeastern region. It seems during meet with PM , CM was completely submissive which was felt by the insiders.CM was not at all offensive that believed the political observers. Perhaps four times Chief Minister Manik Sarkar apprehending that the central assistance to the state may cut by the Modi led NDA govt. Apprehension of CM might have circumstamcial reasons .By the time Modi govt. restricted releasing NREGA fund to Tripura. The steps that are taken by NDA govt. have justified reasons. Union govt. have definite information that Left Front govt. abruptly misusing NREGA fund and a good amount creates personal assets of ruling party leaders living in villages. Observers believe that NREGA fund is the arms for ruling CPI-M to retain villagers under the red flag.Manik Sarkar’s only aim is to retain power for long time.

At the same time Politburo member of CPM urged Prime Minister to retain Special Category status for all the North Eastern states. The 4th time Chief Minister also requested for special attention to the region for its overall development with the aim for improving its infrastructure.

That's why CM has urged PM not to cut central assistance that may adverse effect in rural economy .

During interaction with PM, Chief Minister conveyed to PM that all the CM of northeastern states were about any possible cuts of central assistance would adversely affect the region economy .
Report says that Manik Sarkar conveyed Prime Minister that northeastern chief ministers are interested to meet with him. Report says CM sought a time from the PM. Though Tripura chief minister had sought an appointment with the PM on behalf of the 8 Chief Ministers, nearly 45 days ago, but appointment was yet to get.
Assam Chief Minister Tarun GOGOI also met with PM on Monday. But interestingly Tarun Gogai never requests PM for the appointment. But why Assam CM was silent over the issue? Question is that why the responsibility has vested to Tripura CM?
All the CM of Northeastern state is fully aware that Manik Sarkar is trying his best to maintain close relation with Modi. It is to be mentioned that during last Tripura visit on 1st December Prime Minister Nagendra Modi straight way drove to the Secretariat and meet with council of ministers .This was one of the rarest of rare. Keeping it in mind Northeastern Chief Ministers vested responsibility to Manik Babu to get an appointment for NE CMs.

Accordingly CM, Tripura requested PM for NE CM’s appointment .Report says PM was silent over the request.
The issue of ratification of the historic Land Boundary Agreement with Bangladesh is understood to have figured in the meeting ascertain enclaves in Tripura will be handed over to the neighbouring country.
Manik Sarkar was not invited by the PMO to be part of entourage of PM during his Dhaka visit. Though West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was invited t, she went there in her own way.
It was commonly expected that Manik SARKAR will get invitation from PMO. But there was no invitation to Tripura CM from the PMO. But during the then Prime Minister Manmohan SiNGH , Manik Sarkar was included pm entourage to Dhaka.

Though Manik Sarkar is still tight leap over the Dhaka visit, but observers opined non invitation of Tripura CM is significant. They feel that  Narendra Modi bypasses Manik Sarkar probably due to political reasons. Moreover Communist is the major enemy of BJP.BJP,CPM and can't be in the same boat.
However As per LBA agreement few enclave of Tripura supposed to go with Bangladesh and Tripura will get Chandannagar. During Tuesday meeting LBA was also discussed. It has learnt that Chief Minister initially invited his party's arch rival PM Narandra Modi to remain in the ceremony. It has understood that by inviting PM chief minister tried to satisfy PM so that central assistance for Tripura may continue, as well as special status for Tripura may continue, that was also natural request to PM as learnt.
It has understood that PM did not commit any thing which was requested by the only  Leftist CM.  Need less to mention, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogai,Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar hold meeting with the Prime Minister respectively on Monday and Tuesday. Assam is ruled by Congress and Tripura by CPM.
