Book on “Commentaries on Constitution of Princely Tripura State” released

AGARTALA, June 17 (TIWN): Tripura Law Minister Tapan Chakroborty on Tuesday unveiled a book called “Commentaries on Constitution of Princely Tripura State” authored by Deputy Law Secretary Sankari Das. The book conducted a comparative study between the then constitution under the royal regime and the present Indian constitution, said Das at the civil secretariat.

Briefing the book released on Tuesday at the civil secretariat at Minister’s cabin Deputy Law Secretary Sankari Das who managed to author the book said, “The constitution here in Tripura was constituted by the then Kings of Tripura in 1941 but despite that the Indian constitution constituted in 1950 has a massive resemblance with the laws of the Princely state under royal regime.”

Adding to that Das said, “As a part of the research work I was attracted towards the similarity of the Indian constitution and the constitution of the princely state Tripura, following which I managed to author the book for the common masses of the state.”

“The main objective of authoring the book is to acknowledge the people of every section of the state with the laws and constitution and its type and similarity,” Das told to media persons. However the book was a part of Sankari’s research work. Sankari Das joined as a Judicial Officer of the state in the year 2004.  

Besides, unveiling the book on Tuesday at the civil secretariat Law Minister Tapan Chakroborty talking to the newsmen said, “If anyone here wants to have a comparative study then I hope the book unveiled today would help them with vast knowledge about the princely state of Tripura.” It would not only help the law students, but also would help every section of the people of the state, said Chakroborty.

However, later talking to the media State Law Secretary Datamohan Jamatia said the book would be available at Tripura Law Training Institution and Research Center with a cost of only Rs. 125.
