AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, June 17 (TIWN): Tripura Congress delegation on Tuesday blamed the Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and the Left front government of the land-locked Tripura for alleged involvement with the chit fund scam which looted hundred of crores of money from the poor people under the Left regime. Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee on Tuesday held a high level meeting with the Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi alongwith the other AICC members remained present during the meeting at New Delhi. According to source, after the meeting the Opposition leader Sudip Roy Barman and AICC General Secretary V Narayanswami had slammed the Tripura government and its Chief Minister Manik Sarkar for his alleged involvement to the Chit Fund scam. They were talking to the newsmen during the press conference at AICC Bhawan, Delhi. However, during the press conference the AICC members flayed, “The only reason behind not approving CBI probe on Tripura chit fund scam is because the BJP Government want to save CPI-M.” As per the report from Delhi the source added that Barman along with Narayanswami has brought serious allegation against the Left front govt. in Tripura.AICC on Tuesday claimed that despite listing the Chit Fund companies and tabled with the PMO office, PM Modi has not taken any necessary steps against those Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) approving CBI probe on it.

"We demand a CBI probe into the activities of all illegal non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) and chit fund organisations in Tripura," said Burman alleging that chit fund companies flourished whenever the Left Front was in power in the state.

However, it is worthy to mention here that Sarkar, a Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) politburo member, had earlier denied his government's involvement in the Rose Valley group after Sudip Burman published photographs of the Marxist leader attending an event of the tainted company.

AICC GS Narayanswami and other Tripura congress leaders prior to staging a dharna at Delhi Jantar Mantar ground has on Tuesday demanded a CBI probe into the activities of all illegal non-banking financial firms and chit fund groups in the state. Congress delegation handed over documents to President Pranab Mukherjee.

Later addressing the press conference at delhi on Tuesday Barman and the other AICC members urged the government to work out a process to ensure that the duped investors get back their money, said the source from Delhi. Barman further alleged that if a proper investigation is held, several ministers and CPI (M) leaders will find themselves behind the bars.

According to the source, the AICC members comprising of Barman, and other congress leaders had also met with President Pranab Mukharjee on Tuesday evening taking up the issue of the Tripura chit fund scam. The AICC demanded for the CBI probe into the scam that broke out here in Left ruled Tripura.
