AGARTALA, June 17 (TIWN): To meet the aspirations of the youth the National Cadet Corps (NCC) has proposed to set up training academy center here for the first of its kind in the north eastern region. A 15 members’ delegation team of the state army officers on Tuesday met Minister Tapan Chakroborty at the civil secretariat and had drawn his attention towards their aim to set up the academy.

Talking to the newsmen here at the civil secretariat Chakroborty after the meeting said,, “The Tripura State Advisory Committee meeting of NCC held on Tuesday here has taken up certain issues like proposal of setting up of the NCC academy here in Tripura and several problems of college and school level NCC programmes.”

Adding to that minister further said, “The officers also proposed to introduce the NCC as an elective subject at college level studies.”

“The state government would think over it and would examine and evaluate the proposal of setting up of the NCC academy here in Tripura and later the government would give its final consent,” adding Chakroborty said the government would have to take a plan to set an infrastructure for it because the proposers wants land for setting up academy center.

This would be the first of its kind in the entire north eastern region of the country if the state government here gives its final consent building the NCC academy center, said Chakroborty.

The National Cadet Corps (NCC), India’s military youth movement in schools and colleges, has proposed to set up its training academy in all the northeastern states to meet the aspirations of the youth of the country.

However, as part of their plan Major General SPS Kohli along with other military officers had submitted a proposal to the minister Tapan Chakroborty on tuesday to allot land to establish the academy and to give the governments final consent over it after necessary evaluation of the plan.

The National Cadet Corps is the Indian military cadet corps with its Headquarters at New Delhi. It is open to school and college students on voluntary basis. National Cadet Corps is a Tri-Services Organization, comprising the Army, Navy and Air Force, engaged in grooming the youth of the country into disciplined and patriotic citizens.
