Deplorable condition of Education system: State must target to achieve 100 percent literacy, says Education Minister

AGARTALA, June 16 (TIWN): Addressing a General meet of Unakoti Literacy Organization, Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty said that the state is 96.82 percent literate and now the target should be to achieve 100 percent literacy. Talking tough to the crowd Minister Chakraborty said that achieving 100 percent literacy is a kind of tough job but it must be taken as a challenge to improve the literacy and concern individuals who are engage to make the state literate would work by their heart and soul.

Reportedly, the final evaluation of illiterate and newly literate individuals will start from July 11. Altogether 1513 candidates will sit for the final evaluation. Detailing about the evaluation, it has been decided that for every 25 candidates there will be one invigilator.

Appropriate initiatives must be taken to encourage very individuals so that in the coming days every individual of the state can be introduced as literate, said Minister Chakraborty. He also said that along with providing literacy to the needy people, the State Government is also taking various initiatives to make the people self-reliance.

Despite of taking several initiatives to achieve 100 percent literacy, there are many Government run schools which are in deplorable condition. The education system over there has become a joke. The schools are providing education for the namesake.

 There are schools like Tilakpur Primary Girls School and Kirtontali Primary school which are running for the namesake and till today no initiative has been taken to run the education system smoothly. The negligence in providing education leads the students’ future in to darkness.

Reportedly, the Tilakpur Primary Girls School has 12 students and 5 staffs and the Kirtontali Primary School has 14 students and 6 staff in it.

 However, where the Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty claims to make the state 100 percent literate on the other hand the scenario of few government schools are in deplorable conditions.
