AGARTALA, June 15 (TIWN): Deplorable Internet connectivity provided by BSNL has nailed the tag of Golden Era, where people have been experiencing acute disturbance in the internet facilities.

Talking to TIWN, Sandipan Roy Choudhury, Sub-divisional Engineer of BSNL, on Monday accepted the fact and said that the internet connectivity in the state may gain speed and better accessibility by October this year. Choudhury further expressed that the BSNL broadband connection of the state which is available from Kolkata is running slow for past few months. Enhancing about the issue he said that internet connections are available through optical fibres and due to the coverage of long distance that is from Kolkata to Tripura some time breaks occur in between the fibres resulting disturbance in the internet service and failure of links.

Describing the congestion in the broadband internet service of the state Choudhury further said that at present the state is sharing internet from Kolkata and the its source of international bandwidth for internet is mainly from Chennai and if any congestion occurs the Kolkata Broadband Service provider opt for Mumbai international bandwidth for internet.

Talking about the betterment of the internet service Choudhury stressed on the internet service which will be available from the Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Ltd (BSCCL) will improve internet connectivity in the state which will not only benefit the common people but also the officials or the organization and Bank services which are dependent over the internet connectivity.

The BSNL Broadband service will provide the International Bandwidth for Internet from Cox's Bazar in Bangladesh to Agartala via Brahmanbaria.

Reportedly, the terrestrial route in Bangladesh will be Cox's Bazar-Chittagong-Comilla-B.Baria-Akhaura for primary link and Cox's Bazar-Chitagong-Comilla-Dhaka-Narshindi-Bhairab-Akhaura the secondary link.

As per report, Bangladesh has agreed to sell off its unused submarine Internet bandwidth to India's state owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) for $ 1.2 million ( Rs 7.7 crores) a year.

The agreement will be for four years and India will gain 10 Gbps (gigabits per second) bandwidth in the first year with a provision for this to go up to 40 Gbps per second in the subsequent years. India is going for purchasing this surplus unused bandwidth from Bangladesh to develop the IT industry in Northeast.

The disrupt condition of the internet service in the state paralysed the bank services making loss for most of the public’s and the economy of the state. Where the other states of the country are receiving the fastest broadband connection, Tripura is still dealing with the poor internet connection due to negligence of the authority.

Today, when all the information and the works are mostly done through the internet service, the state is still dealing with the slow connectivity of the internet service. To improve the accessibility of the Government scheme among the public, the Central Government have been launching several schemes which the common people can access through internet so that they do not have to go door-to-door to gather information about the schemes but the disrupt condition of the Internet connection paralysed every sector in the state.

However, if the disrupt condition of internet prolonged than it may bring some more loss to the economy of the state and also act as an obstacle in the betterment of the state.
