AGARTALA, June 15 (TIWN): Majority of the leaders of Indigenous National Party of Twipra (INPT) are determined to form an alliance with BJP, said party’s assistant general secretary Rajeswar Debbarma on Monday over telephone.

INPT, a tribal-based regional party of Tripura, has decided to hold two-day long session of the party’s central committee at Agartala Press Club beginning on July 03 next, he added.

The meeting will finalize the next course of action of the party, Debbarma claimed. INPT is in a very disastrous position after the recently concluded TTAADC elections. “Moreover, as part of the meeting, discussions will take place on party’s proposed programs and organizational issues”, he claimed.

The party leader felt the need of taking various programs to gain the confidence of supporters in the rural hamlets. “Necessary directions will be given to the party leaders with a view to develop party image”, Debbarma maintained. About 220 functionaries will attend the meeting.

The INPT leader accused the Left Front government of creating TTAADC a lame duck institution having no real powers to ensure the development of backward indigenous people. The TTAADC, which has been playing a key role for the socio-economic development of tribal, has jurisdiction over two-thirds of state’s geographical area. It was set up in 1985. Notably, tribal people constitute a third of state’s 3.7 million people.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the party’s youth wing- IYFT has taken place at the headquarters of the party, Advisor Choumuhani on Monday. The meeting has deliberated on an action plan to rejuvenate the party’s youth wing
