 Minister Bhanulal Saha slams centre for withdrawing Planning Commission

AGARTALA, June 14 (TIWN): Tripura Government Pension Association organized a 36th Annual General Meet at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan on June 14. Talking tough in the programme on Sunday, Finance Minister Banulal Saha stressed on the issue of replacing Planning Commission with National Institution for Transforming India Aayog (NITI). Criticising the regressive step taken by the Modi Government Minister Saha further stressed that this decision will not only kick in the stomach of the common people but also will hamper various progressive developmental project in the state.

The women and the families who are dependent over pension facility will also be deprived from their basic needs, said Minister Bhanulal Saha. Mentioning about the positive change in the state, Saha said that the 14th commission has fixed 42 percent of the central taxes for the state that is Rs. 30.50 crore.

Expressing grief, Minister Saha said that earlier the fund which the state use to receive every after 5 years of duration, from this year the state will not receive any fund from the central to assist any kind of development programme.

The exclusion of the state from the special category state has resulted to dilute all sorts of central facilities and opportunities here in the state, said Finance Minister Bhanulal saha.

He further mentioned that the withdrawal of the Planning Commission would bring huge paucity of funds in different sectors of the state.

During the programme, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dr. Prafullajit Sinha and other dignitaries were present.

It is worthy to mention here that Chief Minister Manik Sarkar in his letter to PM Modi this year mentioned that the state demanded 50 per cent share of the central taxes, but the 14th Finance Commission has fixed it at 42 per cent and added, due to abolition of the Planning Commission the state would face huge paucity of funds in different sectors.

Following which Saha earlier said the status of special category state for Tripura was withdrawn as a result of which the state would be deprived of many facilities.
