Khowai, June 14 (TIWN): Only a total number of 6 staffs are running the Khowai Sadar Police station over past many days. On the one hand crime rate is rising high, but to the cut the crime in the district there is lack of police personnel at Khowai district under Khowai Sadar PS. Only six police personnel are maintaining the law and order of the Khowai district.

However, it is seen that rape in the villages is rooted to traditions of patriarchy, misogyny and repressive attitudes that prevail across classes, while the reasons for rape in villages and tribal areas are attributed to caste, honor killing, family wars and repressive attitudes.

It is seen that, only two are appointed as Sub-Inspector, one is Assistant Sub-Inspector, two are constables, and one is women sub-inspector. When the Sub-inspector goes out for patrolling, the station runs empty without any police official.

When any crime hits the villages or if any person becomes victim of any crime, the police personnel fails in providing justice to the victim as the police station doesn’t have the sufficient number of officials to deal with the crime.

Allegation is also raised against the SP Rati Ranjan Debnath of Khowai district PS that he shows negligence in his work and doesn’t take proper action against minimizing the crime in the Khowai district.

With lack of officials in the Khowai Sadar PS, it becomes really tough for the locals to deal with the crime in the district.
