 CPI-M declares candidates lists for by-poll in 2 constituencies

AGARTALA, May 28 (TIWN): With the ruling Left front govt. on a spree launching and inaugurating various projects here in Tripura in wake of Pratapgarh, Surma by-elections, the opposition congress is yet to come out of its grief over the debacle in the just concluded TTAADC polls. The CPI-M on Thursdaydeclared its candidates lists for Pratapgarh, Surma by-elections scheduled to be held on June 27, 2015.

CPI-M Kamalpur subdivisional committee’s secretary and former chairman of Panchayat Samiti, Anjan Das (43) elected for 46-Surma (SC) assembly constituency whereas CPI-M SC coordination committee leader Ramu Das (35) elected for the party candidate for 13-Pratapgarh (SC) constituency.

By-elections would be held at Pratapgarh and Surma assembly constituency in Tripura on June 27. According to the notification issued by the ECI on Tuesday, the last date of filing nomination papers by the candidates from the both the constituencies is June 10. The last date of withdrawal of candidature is June 13.

Counting of votes would be held on June 30, ECI notification. Scrutiny of the nomination papers would be on June 11.

The ECI on its notification declared that the polling for by-elections would start from 8:00 AM and would continue till 5:00 PM.

The elections shall be completed by July 2, 2015, issued ECI on Tuesday.

The commission has decided that the voter’s identification shall be mandatory in the aforementioned by-elections at the time of poll. Electoral photo identity card (EPIC) shall be the main document of identification of a voter.

The model of conduct shall come into force with immediate effect in the districts in which the whole or any part of the Assembly Constituency going for by-election is included, ECI decided.

It shall be applicable to all candidates, political parties and the state govt. concerned. However the State Election Commission is entrusted to issue the notification for the by-elections on June 3, 2015.
