KAMALPUR, MAY 27 (TIWN): Now and then Kamalpur Police bravely and intelligently seize some amount of contrabands from vehicles plying on the Halhali-Fatikroy NEC road. After such seizure every time the police loudly announce their saga of success and claim to be earnest to their slogan of “Veerta Badhutaâ€. Indeed, the veerta (bravery) and bandhuta (friendship) of police remains intact even after such seizures and this too with the illegal businessmen of contrabands.
Though seems shocking, it is the fact about the police and the case is not so here at Kamalpur only but same in almost all the police stations at Dhalai, Unakoti and North district. The Churaibari point at Churaibari under North district always remained a lucrative place for posting for any police. In Dharmanagar market some hotels openly serve wines and whiskies to their customers like a pub and this is an open secret. Starting from Dharmanagar right up to Sabroom, the police stations adjacent to National Highways or to NEC roads get mingled with the contraband sellers and businessmen in fix-ups. In time of needs, the police officials plan a fix-up with them and seize contrabands with vehicles. When the courts call for auction of those contrabands, original dealers once again buy them.
In such a fix-up Kamalpur police seized more than three crores’ Phensydl on 13 May last. Like previous times, this time too, the transportation of Phensydl increased far more after the seizure. And police got busy in happily remembering the incident of success. The NEC road has turned into a free corridor for transportation of contrabands and the businessmen never mind in having sacrificed some amount of contrabands to the police for safer plying. Who would remedy the situation?
