AGARTALA, May 26 (TIWN): Panicked by the growing popularity of Bharatiya Janata Party through out the state, the ruling CPI-M is not taking any chance in mobilizing the denizens of Agartala towards the ruling party. The party think tank is making all out effort to woo the voters in its support keeping in mind the AMC election slated in December this year. The recent activities of the ruling Govt. is viewed as the preparations of the ruling party towards the municipality election slated in the December month, this year. The political observers feel that the Manik Sarkar led Govt.’s decision to give widespread publicity about the construction of the first ever flyover of the capital city is a step in the vote bank politics of the party.“The flyover issue is a measure towards giving a much needed facelift to the tarnished image of the corruption stricken Manik Sarkar Govt.â€, feel the political analysts here. The CPI-M supported “Agartala Municipality Workers Union’s procession throughout the main roads of the capital city on Saturday praising the CPI(M)’s good works and expressing their support for the ruling Govt. despite its failure to safeguard the basic rights of the denizens is just an indication of the appeasement policy of the ruling party supported workers’ union towards the ruling CPI-M Govt.
The fact that the mosquito problem in the municipality area, the water stagnation of the city’s main roads even with a small flash of rain, the poor quality of drinking water supply and the acute shortage of drinking water facility in the municipality area is very well known by the workers and there was no improvement of the situations over the last ten years.
The recent approach of the Govt. to appoint CPI (M) party comrades as Ward Secretaries in the AMC’s 39 wards is aimed at pacifying the long time comrades who were disgruntled with the party owing to various reasons, feels the political analysts here.
The Maha Janasamparka Abhiyan launched by the BJP is further worrying the CPI (M) and the party think tank is much worried at the popularity of the party among the voters of the capital city as the rightist party is bringing more momentum in its tirade against the ruling CPI (M) party in the state.
The reduction in vote share of the ruling Left Front in the recently held TTAADC election is further giving much tension to the party and the surcharge of votes of the rightist BJP in the tribal areas is making the CPI (M) think tank nervous.
