KAMALPUR,May 18 (TIWN): A sensational fact got unearthed about the embezzlement in the construction of Bharat Nirman Road at Jamthum for which a huge amount of 3, 98, 80, 119.15 was sanctioned along with an additional maintenance grant of 36, 16, 400.86 rupees. The contractor Mintu Pal, who got the sub-contract of the work from HSCL happily embezzled in the work due to the negligence and lack of supervision from the part of the PWD(R&B). And importantly this scenario prevailed in almost all such works as HSCL appointed some Prabir Sarkar as the Engineer in-charge of the Dhalai, who was earlier worked as SDO (PWD) here.

The PWD(R&B) authority was managed by Mr. Sarkar in favor of the contractor and so the authority never appointed any representative from the part of them. It resulted in the narrow and protection less road with uncarpeted parts. The contractor also dared to pick up bricks from a nearby road promising complete carpeting of that road. Now, the situation prevailed in almost all the centrally sponsored works in the sub-division. Now, who would remedy the situation and how the people would be ensured quality is the matter of concern.
