AGARTALA, May 18 (TIWN): Posting of under qualified CPI-M cadres as teachers in Tripura schools has made central government unhappy and Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) was prompted to issue final alert to Manik Sarkar for immediate correction.Posting of under qualified CPI-M cadres as teachers in Tripura schools has made central government unhappy and Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) was prompted to issue final alert to Manik Sarkar for immediate correction.During Congress led UPA regime MHRD was lenient towards fake portrayal of Sarkar. As a result, the then government never took any action against left front government. In turn the state produced a boneless generation over past two decades who are now teaching for creating few more generations without knowledge. In a recent letter MHRD pointed out that 80% of the teachers of Tripura are not qualified, which is flouting Govt of India’s mission to ensure quality education. The letter also expressed discontent over the training of in service teachers. However, MHRD allowed the state to finish training to all teachers by June 2020 considering poor training infrastructure. The period of relaxation to run the schools with untrained teachers is supposed to be completed in September this year.

Interestingly, MHRD had given relaxation for training of the teachers for five years in 2010 with a condition that all 16000 odd untrained teachers appointed middle of 2001 to 2010 have to be trained up by this period. But the state government could able to finish training of only 2200 so far.

Meantime, the state government faced another problem with some in service teachers appointed with party choice but having very poor marks at higher secondary level. IGNOU had agreed to impart training to untrained teachers of Tripura but now they also rejected 811 candidates due to their poor academic record. For two-years training module of IGNOU at least 50% marks in HS level is required. But they did not have it.

CM has given special assignment to Comrade Ratish Majumdar, Director of State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) to manage all poor mark scorer in IGNOU course. According to IGNOU, as many as 811 teachers are rejected in admission because of poor marks. But SCERT is persuading to get admitted all untrained teachers with poor marks taking the benefit of relaxation ignoring the deadline.

As per the latest, assessment as many as 14,500 teachers are untrained and disqualified in service. After implementation of Right to Education Act, the state government managed six month certificate course for 4106 teachers appointed after 2001. MHRD disqualified them too. Out of 3000 state government nominated in service teachers, in liberal scrutiny 811 have found not suitable and hence, rejected, said IGNOU officials.
