TIWN

AGARTALA, May 17 (TIWN): Illegal activities like “Tir gambling”, selling of country liquour, land grabbing are going on unabated in the Laddu chowmuhani bazar and adjacent areas under Agartala Municipality Corporation for the last few months.

According to the locals, Councillor of Ward Number 5 of Agartala Municipality Corporation and local CPI(M) leader Bidhu Mohan Rudrapal is running the racket of all illegal activities in the area. The powerful CPI(M) leader along with his few comrades are running a reign of terror in the area and locals are waiting for some action on the group of comrades and their boss.

The group led by the councillor and a Govt. School teacher cum comrade was alleged of land grabing and other illegal activities for long and the recent flaring up in the Tir gambling, and sell of contraband country liquour in the Laddu chowmuhani bazar is further viciating the locals against their activities.

The councillor is managing the local police by allegedly paying them hefty amount from the illegal trades, accuses the locals.

It may be mentioned here that the Chandrapur’s Tatakalibari incident of attrocities on Soma Mazumder was also masterminded by the same councillor but no action was taken on the councillor by the police due to his close ties with the police, claims the locals here.

“The CPI(M) local party office here at the Laddu chowmuhani bazar area has been virtually converted into a place of land negotiation and other such illegal activities by the councillor and his group”, alleges the locals of the area.

“The much ballooned chief minister Manik Sarkar who talks of his tirade against corruption is actually patronizing corruption in the state”, alleges a local with sign of much digust in his face.

The locals further allege that the police of GB out post is well managed by the councillor and his group and the district administration too is behaving like a mere spectator.
