School lacks infrastructural problems: Education department in deep slumber

AMARPUR / AGARTALA, May 17 (TIWN): Even after the ambitious RTE Act 2009 came into being, a number of schools are not yet compliant with the complete set of RTE infrastructure indicators. The students of Chlakaham Higher Secondary School under Karbook sub division are facing infrastructural problems. Dearth of teachers deserves special mention among the problems. There are a total of 13 teachers running the school.

According to sources, out of the 13 teachers a few teachers remain engaged with other works. Besides, the school is not having any female teacher. The girl students could not share every problem they face with a male teacher. The school authority needs to appoint a female teacher. There are altogether 81 students in Class IX, but due to dearth of teachers sections could not be divided.

Furthermore, there has been shortage of benches in the school. 3 to 4 children have to sit in one bench. Though the school is having playground and gallery, it does not have sports teacher. Also, students are facing immense problems as the school is not having any boundary wall. Even the school lacks in electricity connectivity, sources added.

Though, there are water filters and water tanks available in the school, yet the school lacks in drinking water facility. The school lacks a functional common toilet. There are altogether 324 students studying in the school. It lacks a clean environment having no dustbin. There has been a problem regarding the boundary line of the school. The report also cites that the school is having no hostel for poor students. The students have to face huge problems while coming to school from a distance of 20 km during summer and rainy season. It is worthy to mention here that the school is having dearth of Commerce teachers.
