Before leaving for workers’ meet, the leaders met the media persons at Kamalpur Congress Bhavan. Narayanswamy described the tour as an effort to remedy the distressed condition of the Party in the state as Congress could only secure five percent vote in the last TTAADC election in contrast with the forty four percent secured in the last assembly poll.
In a question about the organizatinal strength of the party in the State, Narayanswamy told TIWN, “Party will be reconstituted soon. From the Block level up to the Pradesh level , the real and active workers would only be included into the party organization.” Whether Congress would make alliance with IPFT or not Narayanswamy informed, “ Although the demand of separate state of IPFT is not an unconstitutional demand, but alliance with them is yet in the premature state.” However, He made it clear that, the present focus of the party would be on the bye-election and ensuing Nagar Panchayat and Village Council polls.
In the Press Meet, the CLP leader Sudip Roy Barman informed that, the NSUI Central leadership permitted to collect membership for NSUI from class eight onwards. However, the future of the party in the state still lies under the grip of factionalism , according to political analysts.
