Khowai, May 13 (TIWN): Debbarma Salka bari, a village far from the luxuries of a city life among 17 ADC villages of Tulashikhar RD Block under Khowai subdivision. This Debbarma Salka bari village covering Atharomura Hill’s few areas, is a residence of Reang community. TIWN correspondent has discovered this village where 31 families are used to live, with the total number of 56 members.
This village is bearing the traditions of the Tribal culture of Tripura. People there are still used to dress in their traditional Reang dresses and for their livelihood they basically depend on “Jhum” cultivation and “Resham”.
But what is the real face of CPI-M led Govt'ss golden era, which anyone can find out by visiting that place. No facility for drinking water has been arranged over there till now. For drinking water these rural people have to depend on the water coming down from the hills by cutting a bamboo in two parts. And this tradition is silently maintained by these villagers since 40/45 years. And the authority has no headache for that.
Surprisingly not only drinking water even there is no Educational Institution, even not an Angawadi center is there. Though we are living in 21st century, this village has not gotten any electricity connection till today.
TIWN correspondent talked to a vllaager Samarjit Reang who could not speak in Bengali, he could only reply in “yes” or “No”. Such is the condition of these poor people of Debbarma Salka bari living without any connection with this society and the ministers who are living in AC rooms, travelling in AC cars have no time to look after them.
