Amarpur, May 8 (TIWN): A traditional fair is to start in Amarpur on May 9. It is called Baishakhi Melaâ€, where every year in Amarpur subdivision, near the Chandibari, people gather and enjoy the fair for 7 days. This traditional fair is used to inaugurate on the birthday of Rabindranath Tagore(Baishakh 25) and this year also on the 155th birthday of Tagore “Baishakhi†fair will be started.
Many shopkeepers in the hope of few profits have started to make their stalls. However rainy season has become an obstacle before them.
But their eagerness for the fair has already implemented the huge excitements for the fair within the local people and the seasonal change is as not affecting the essence of the festival at all. It has been reported that this year more than 100 stalls have been set there.
Circus and games have been arranged for amuse the people from children to grownups. Another feature like theatre in the name of “Chitrahaar” will also be available there.
During the 7 days there will be many cultural programmes as singing, drama, orchestra etc. Moreover, it has been reported that already a committee has been made who are also inviting the artists from other states to enlarge the beauty of this fair. And most importantly for the safety and security of the public the cop are indulging strictly so that anyhow peace and harmony of this fair would not break.
