Road mishap left three seriously injured

AGARTALA, May 5 (TIWN): In a strange incident, three persons were injured seriously at binapani area under Jirania Police Station here on Tuesday morning.

According to police, a brick loaded truck bearing number TR02-D-1515 while proceeding towards Agartala from Jirania dashed a CNG bus bearing number TR01-B-1376 which was proceeding towards Jirania from Ranirbazar side. As a result three labourers of the brick carrying truck received grievous injuries. 

Immediately all the injured labourers were shifted to GBP hospital for treatment where in the attending doctors said that the conditions of labourers are stable.

The three injured labourers were identified as Biswajit Roy, Mithun Das and Kamal Dey residents of Ranirkhamar under Jirania Police Station, said police.

After getting the information police personnel from Jirania Police Station rushed to the spot and took the situation under control.

The driver of the truck managed to escape from the spot after the incident. During the years (2009-­10 and 2010-­11) as many as 1748 road accidents took place that killed 453 persons. A total of 2573 persons were injured in the same period. Add to it were 291 persons who were killed in 1015 road accidents in the year 2012, 1382 person more were injured. The statistics said, the number of vehicles, which were 58,581 in the year 2001, goes up 66,507 in the year 2002. Gradually the increasing trend for number of vehicles has been continue in the year 2010 it stand 1,60,119 vehicles. But in the year 2011 it abruptly rise to 2, 10,331 vehicles and in the year 2012 it stand at 2, 60,227 vehicles across Tripura.
