Agartala, May 2 (TIWN):Students of Tripura Institute of Technology ( TIT) decided to go for agitation after deputation to Chief Minister Manik Sarkar failed. On April 8, a deputation was given by students to chief minister on various long standing unresolved issues.
Even after getting threatening of dire consequences from faculty members, students gave deputation. They thought chief minister will take some measures keeping in view about the future of students, but nothing was done till date. According to students even after drawing the attention of chief minister there was no assurance to resolve their issues; only option left is to go for agitation.
From TIT four batches of degree holders have passed out, this year another batch will pass out. Only 13 students got campus placement, whereas other engineering colleges give 100 percent placement gurranttees.Training and placement cell engineering management is one of the vital department of engineering college.
After along demand by students one such cell was opened in TIT but no role to pay for giving placement to passing out students, lacks adequate funds, an inexperienced faculty members was given additional charge. The result as expected no sign of job placements.
The TIT is collapsing very fast due to lackluster attitude of the government, there are no infrastructures and qualified faculty members. According to higher education department sources if the current situation prevails and government fails take some remedial measures to bring things on right track; the days are not far when AICTE may cancel affiliation of TIT.
